How do you I make my nails strong, long and beautiful?

all my life I've had weak, easily breakable nails, like my mother's. I'm tired of being embarassed by my hands and want to be able to show them off. any suggestions?How do you I make my nails strong, long and beautiful?
I manage to keep my nails long (about half to three-quarters of an inch beyond the fingertip) by:

- always wearing rubber gloves with a ball of cotton wool at each fingertip when doing household chores;

- taking MSM tablets daily;

- applying a coat of OPI Nail Envy every other day for a week, then remove all polish and start again;

- daily application of hand cream and cuticle butter;

- using rubber thimbles (the type that banking clerks use to count banknotes) on my typing fingers while typing.

I've worn my nails long since I was aged about nine (I'm now 47) and admittedly I'm now very used to them, but I never take any chances - I love my nails too much!

Try sally hansen Hard As Nails base coating or any of the nail polishes that will strenghten your nails.

if that still doesn't work, you might need to get acrylics/gels (fake nails) which will keep your nails from breaking.
drink a lot of milk it really makes your nails stronger
Drinking milk actually doesn't help. Your body cannot absorb the calcium in milk, therefore drinking unfortified milk is basically like drinking empty calories and fat. Your body cannot absorb the calcium from milk if it's not fortified with vitamin D.

Also, I found that Sally Hansen actually doesn't do any good for my nails. It actually makes them worse. For strong nails, use moisturizer or cream that has aloe vera and vitamin E. Also, most drug stores and Wal Mart sell products that allow you to care for your nails at home without going to the salon. It's a cube with a nail file on one side, sandpaper on another side (that's used to file down the ridges in your nails), a cotton material on the other side (that's used to prep your nails), and silky material on another side that gives your nails shine. Also, this thing is like $6.00. This means that your nails are naturally healthy looking and shiny, so you don't need to use nail polish to make them shiny... nail polish kills your nails.
