What do convicts do when they need to cut their nails?

Just curious.

Thanks! What do convicts do when they need to cut their nails?
I live and work in Ohio. In our prison system , inmates are allowed to purchase emery boards ( cardboard type) and/or nail files ( without the metal file on them) through commissary.

If the inmate is indigent, I would write him a pass to medical where medical staff would let him use nail clippers they keep there for that reason.

If I see an inmate with finger nails extending more than 1/4 inch from his fingers, we will give him a direct order to cut them. That is considered a weapon in the Ohio system ( used for gouging eyes in a fight).

I hope this helps and you can find it usefulWhat do convicts do when they need to cut their nails?
At our jail, the correctional officers have a nail clipper they can lend out to inmates. It's written in the log who it was given to and what time. When the inmate is done with the clipper, it's inspected, then written in the log that it was returned properly.
emery boards... just cardboard with sandpaper
They bite there nails. yummy
