I am installing Hardi soffit board and don't want nails showing.?

8p nails go right through. Roofing nails work but look bad. Can I use Staples. Note this is horizontal edge to edge installation. Will heavy staples work and counter sink a bit so I can spackle over them and will they hold?I am installing Hardi soffit board and don't want nails showing.?
No staples will break the Hardi board you need to use wood screws And counter sink them.I am installing Hardi soffit board and don't want nails showing.?
use liquid nails on the back of the hardiboard. secure in place with course drywall screws. Next day remove the screws and patch the holes.
use wood screws and counter sink and Spackle over them.
