What is a good way to take fake nails off without damaging real nails that bad?

I think most of the damage from fake nails is due to the filing and buffing off the top layers of the nail to make sure that the fake nail adheres well. Soaking the fake nails in an acetone based nail polish remover is the only way of removing fake nails at home that I know of. I would suggest soaking them in acetone until they either fall off or get soft enough for you to take them off without straining your real nails. If you can't get a manicure from a professional you should use a cuticle cream of some sort and buff your nails to get rid of the lines from the false nails.
if soaking them in acetone does not work go to the nail salon! Leave it to the professionals!
You can soak them in acetone. or have a professional clip them off and then buff out your nails.

first you must soak them in acetone.. but that's a bit harsh on your fingers. what i recommend is that you use a cuticle oil that you can pretty much purchase at a beauty store..





after leaving your nails in the acetone for about 10-15 minutes, you must FILE the nails down.. as in BUFF that nail down so that it's thin.





after doing so, clip the nails so that it's short.





now you can grab something pointy or really thin and push it in between the nail and acrylic/gel/powder.





don't try to pull the acrylic/gel/powder off as this may cause tearing. :T





acrylic is what kills the nails the most. it's the cheapest product of nail salons out there regardless what brand they use.





i recommend gel because it lasts longer and doesn't do as much damage like acrylics would. don't get me wrong, they'll still kill your nails.. but not as much. lol





pink and white is also the best. it's pretty much like the gel, but with a more natural look. :)
acetones no good. It will wear down your nails and make them brittle.
putting them in hot water is the simplest and the best
