Leopard tortoise has not gained weight in 6 months and has a clear runny nose sometimes and has lost 3 nails?

I took him to the vet about a month and a half ago she said he didn't have worms and his bacteria levels were normal also she said that nails get caught on thing occasionally and gave me ointment for them. she also said it's normal to have periods were their weight stays. she specializes in reptiles and exsotics. but my little tortoise hasn't improved but my tortoise is very active and has a good appetite . any suggestions would be helpful.Leopard tortoise has not gained weight in 6 months and has a clear runny nose sometimes and has lost 3 nails?
Wait it out.

Keep offering a large variety of healthy foods. (Red and yellow food stimulates appetite)

Make sure UV light is plentiful. If you're using a light bulb, they lose effectiveness after 6 months. Even if it's still showing light, it's not showing UV light. Change it out.

Good luckLeopard tortoise has not gained weight in 6 months and has a clear runny nose sometimes and has lost 3 nails?
it really doesn't sound bad i mean he just is at a point where he eats exactly how much he wants and not extra so he doesn't gain any wait its no biggie

but for the nose i dont think that is bad and its pretty common
Did the tortoise have the runny nose when it was at the vet's? Your tortoise shouldn't have a discharge from its nose of any color. This usually indicates some sort of respiratory infection or pnemonia.

You did not mention the age of the tortoise. As for the weight - has it reached its adult growth?

If the turtle's nose wasn't discharging when you took it to the vet, it may have been in the early stages of an illness, and symptoms weren't showing at the time.

Reptiles are slow to show signs of illness, and by the time they do show symtoms, it's usually pretty progressed. I'll post a couple links you can check out. This is from the first link:

';Be aware that tortoises are slow to show signs of illness and also slow to heal after treatment so don鈥檛 delay in seeking care if your tortoise begins to show symptoms such as loss of appetite, wheezing, chronic runny nose, mucous coming from the mouth or eyes that remain glued shut, failure to thrive, obvious weight loss, constipation, or chronic watery foul smelling stools.';

Are you keeping proper heat on the tort? Is it getting enough sunlight and UVB exposure? Are you meeting its calcium with vitamin D3 needs?

Did you call the vet back about the discharge? I would recommend that you do. It may need to be started on a regimen of antibiotics.

Good luck, and I hope the lil guy is feeling better soon.

I hope this has been of help.
