Which is better when installing deck: use decking nails with grooves or screw?

I use screws for everything now days, they hold better.

You will most likely have to drill pilot holes in the deck boards but not the joist, to get a good tight fit.Which is better when installing deck: use decking nails with grooves or screw?
Deck screws. I prefer the system that screws from underneath, so there's no holes in the wood.Which is better when installing deck: use decking nails with grooves or screw?
We used screws and its holding up just fine. Enjoy your deck!
Save yourself allot of time and aggravation and use ';Deck Screws';. They are weather proof and will stay in and not work out like nails. I used them in my fence and have had no problems with loose boards.
I would recommend using deck nails. They provide much more protection against pulling out.
Save your arm, use a drill and screw it.
Use coarse thread screws. They hold better than fine thread and nails. And if you ever need to replace a board for whatever reason its hella easer to back the screws out than it is to pull a ring shank nailed board.
use screws. I always grease them a little before putting them in, it makes it so much easier later when you want to change things, even years later.
We prefer screws! We have had to remove deck boards to get to our St. Bernard who climbed under the deck and got his leash caught. We have removed deck boards to get to treasures the kids have lost under there and refuse to go get and we have removed a deck board that was broken when something heavy was dropped on it. You never know when you will have to remove a board. We have also found that the screws stay tight...where nails tend to lift eventually.
Screws, just because you don't have to keep hammering them back down, and they don't hurt your feet! I have gone through a lot of socks on my deck!

I'd recommend screws in case you lose anything under the decking or for rodding drains etc if you have a drain under the decking.
Screws are better and easy to remove if you ever have a deck board get damaged.
Wood Screws are best because over the years as the wood shrinks from weather all you have to is tighten them up.
deck screws or ring shank nails
