Trying to draw skinny lines on my nails?

I'm trying to do that black line before the big line of white on my french manicure

you're supposed to use toothpicks but they are short and the black makes a mess of my hands

anything else i can use?Trying to draw skinny lines on my nails?
i would put tape over the top and bottom where yo don't want the black line then just paint over it. remove the tape and voila!Trying to draw skinny lines on my nails?
Take a small piece of masking tape--about as big as your nail, and use scissors to cut it in half. Apply the first piece of tape to your nail, leave a small gap and then place the other piece close beside the first so that you have a mask of a skinny line. Then you can paint to your heart's content with any size brush. the smaller the gap you leave in the center, the finer the line will be. Pull the tape off carefully, peeling away from the line, not just pulling straight down.
get a striping brush from a salon store or material store, you can use a toothpick but its not very dependable. I just did the same thing your doing but I had acrylic nails on and I put a line of glitter, then black then pink, it looked really nice. What I did was I sat at my table and dipped the striping brush into the paint, brushed off excess then laid the hand I was going to paint on flat on the table, I stuck my hand with the brush next to it and instead of moving my hand with the brush to paint I moved my hand that I was painting on very slowly to make sure I got a perfect line like a smile. Next Im going to try pink and black checkers. GOOD LUCK! just be patient and keep your idea in mind while doing it and itll turn out fine. Also be careful with the toothpick because the paint slides down it quickly and you could end up with a ball. ;)
Try to buy manicure tapes-they are sold cheaply in stores or the ones with the manicure set. Tape it to your upper nails %26amp; start the black one first. Let it dry %26amp; then peel the tape off-then do it with the white. Another tip is to get an old tiny brush-cut it with scissors to get that sharp or pencil shaped. To avoid mess especially on your hands or fingers, wear thin gloves. Always have a cotton %26amp; nail polish remover handy.
Well, if you don't want to go to a nail salon, you can try some different techniques. You can use tape around where you want the line to be, but the tape might be hard to work with and/or rip the other nail polish off. You can ask a friend or someone to do it to you. They also sell kinds of nail polish such as Nic's Sticks with are little nail polish brushes that some thin.
the actually have little nail polishes with small paint brushes or you can do it like the do professionally

put the line on the with the normal brush its gunna be thick at first

take like a small paint brush more of a square one and put some fingernail polish remover on it and just gradually rub it on the line until you have it to the desired thickness
Go to any art supply store and ask for a ';zero brush'; also ask for a ';double zero'; brush. These are the thinnest brushes and can be used for lines, and detailing.

if you have a friend who knows how to draw, you can give him/her your zero brush, tell him/her what you want and he/she will paint it free hand right on your nail.

My ex-boyfriend used to do this with zero brushes for me all the time.
they have this french manicure kit

you can get at walgreens or walmart

you dont have to use the white and pinkish nailpolish it comes with

if you already have a black

but inside they have little white strips that are sticky that

you put on your nails and they come in different designs

like diamond shaped but yeah it worked good for me
You can wait until your white or the rest of your nail polish dries up and but tape were you don't want black and paint over were you want it.

Or there some nail polish that you can buy that have two tips and one of them is really little and the tip is metal that is made to do small lines.
try using a pin not a writing one or a safety pin, but the kind that u use for sewing and stuff it looks like a needle. u can also get brushes from ur local beauty supply store that can maek the really skinny lines or u can also get polish that already has the skinny brush in it u can find that at the beauty supply store as well
they actually have nail polish with a skinny brush made for that type of art! they have them at all stores that sell nail products. Look in the isle and it should b in a small bottle! or you can ask someone who works there which one it is. Toothpicks don't really work. Ive tried and i created a mess!
at sallys i think i saw the nail polishis but instead of a big wide brush they came with a super then brush i bought allot of them because i love doing my nails and they make thin lines or if u tilt it they make a bigger more thick line i recomend them to u because well their really good work well and dont get a clumpy as fast as other nail polishes trust me i hate that toothpick thing it never works for me
You can buy nail varnish with tiny brushes or a pen with nail varnish which is even easier and more accurate to use.....

I looked it up for you where you may find such items:

Hope this helps :)
Ff you have a Sally Hansens store nearby, they have a ton of different colored nail polished that have a really skinny brush. They are used for details like.. drawing lines and writing.. so they would be perfect for you. They are pretty cheap as well. If you dont want to go buy something, sharpen a pencil and put nail polish on the tip.. that takes a while but it will work.

Hope I helped :]
well sweety your in luck! as manicurist first things first i know your not using black polish right? you need a water base paint they sell them at walmart .88cents any color... next yea yea yea iv eheard the whole toothpick thing too but i have been doin nails for almost six years and that crap dont work not for me anyways...you need a striper brush and the paint and you should be good to go... now how your gonna do your dominant hand i have no clue...lol... i thought only i could do that and thats with years of practice...
Usually, I cut a piece of masking tape (with a razorblade) to the shape I want...

But you have to be careful that the rest of the nail polish is dry so that the tape doesn't take off chips. Even then, some polishes chip anyways...
girl ima go all gheto on this but this is what i do...i get a piece of tape and cover what i dont want painted...in your case painted black...good luck and i hope that this lil tip helped bcause what's good about this is that its cheap and its not time consuming
They make nail polish with brushes that are as thin as a toth pick! You can find them at tons of common stores. They came just like a regular nail polish bottle, but you have to look on the package for the brush size!
the tip of a safety pins works really well. i used to draw skulls and sunsets and things like that on my nails and the tip of a safety pin worked perfectly.
you can buy special pens to do that with but not sure where from sorry

but you could use a eyeliner stick yet the eye makeup off first by cleaning it the dip it in the nail stuff

hope this helps

x
tape over the parts of the nail you don't want painted!

-BRILLIANT

...you can cut the tape so that it has a curve in it
well, sounds weird, but what i do is the almost all the cotton off a Qtip, basically almost all of it and use that =)

works great for me, i even do designs myself

good luck
you can put tape on it. 2 pieces.. and just leave a space open for you to paint black. let it sit til it dries. then take off the 2 pieces of tape... that should do it!!
Why don't you try a really thin paint brush from an art store or where ever

could you answer mine please:

Go to a craft store or even Walmart in the craft section. You can find paint brushes with thin bristles just for detailed, delicate painting such as that.
it's not gonna work. Get it done professionally.
My friend puts tape on her nail (the smooth side, not the sticky side) and just paints with the regular nail polish brush. With practice she got really good and it looks like she goes to a salon.
you can use a closed pen. or an eyeliner thing. but also, they sell designing nail polish that has a really thing brush.
Go to Sallys Beauty Supply and they have this nail polish that has an ultra skinny brush made for thin lines. Its called Stripe Right by So Easy.
I know that there is this one kit that a friend of mine has. It contains nail polish ';pens';. It's very useful when trying to make skinny lines. I think its by Sally Hansen.
you should get someone like your mom to do it. or just go to a nail place snd they'll do it. or just do the tape thing
